Actor Carl Weathers, known for his role as Apollo Creed, has died at age 76. The news was confirmed by the Weathers family who released a statement regarding his death and cause of death.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”
Sylvester Stallone has also broken his silence where he said:
“We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching.” he wrote for the caption in his video. In the video itself he spoke of how great a man Weathers was.
“He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more importantly, his heart, his soul. It’s a horrible loss. He was magic, and I was so fortunate to be part of his life. So, Apollo, keep punching.”
Michael B. Jordan, who played his son in Creed films as Adonis Creed also spoke of his death. “We lost a Legend.” he wrote in his IG stories.
Weathers has also starred in shows and movies such as Happy Gilmore, Predator, Action Jackson, Arrested Development and The Mandalorian. We are sending his family condolences during this difficult time.
