The Weeknd’s show The Idol has officially been cancelled after just one season. This seemingly had been looming over the show before it aired as many critics had lowly-rated the show and the controversy the show had broadcasted which have effected viewership.
HBO released a statement regarding the show’s cancellation stating:
“’The Idol’ was one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased by the strong audience response. After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers have decided not to move forward with a second season. We’re grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work.” The network wrote.
The first season only saw five episodes, just one episode short of the original run but those included in the cast such as Da’Vine Joy Randolph, has spoken of everyone having intensions of having a second season. The Weeknd nor any other cast members as of now have spoken of the cancellation.
