It has been reported that AIDS activist, Hydeia Broadbent has died at age 39 due to natural causes while sleeping. Her father confirmed the news via Facebook as he released a statement.
“With great sadness, I must inform you all that our beloved friend, mentor and daughter Hydeia, passed away today after living with Aids since birth. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, Hydeia remained determined to spread hope and positivity through education around Hiv/AIDS,” He wrote.
She has sparked attention to her activism of HIV/AIDS at the young age of 12 years old when she appeared on shows such as Good Morning America, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Maury and more. Being born in 1984, doctors had suggested that due to her diagnosis of being HIV Positive and having an addiction to crack, she wouldn’t be able to survive past 5 years old, but had beaten the odds with the help of her parents Loren and Patricia Broadbent who adopted her and helped her through the process.
