Joey Bada$$ had been approached by paparazzi where he had spoke of his character Unique on the Starz network show Raising Kanan. SPOILER ALERT AHEAD, in season three episode five, his character Unique comes to blows with his brother Ronnie who seemingly catches him off guard and kills Unique.
When speaking to TMZ, he shares that his character being killed off was his idea due to his upcoming music plans for 2024 conflicting with filming. He is gearing up to release a new album and go on tour some point this year.
He also shared with PEOPLE that he felt “devastated” in reading the script for Unique’s death.
“Absolutely. I was devastated. But all good things come to an end, and I feel like this character has helped me spread my wings in the TV and film industry. I mean, it’s very unfortunate. I hate to be leaving the Kanan family,” he expressed. “I think a lot of people are going to be a little let down. It’s like, ‘What the f–k? He’s dead?’ It is not even the end of the season! It’s the f—ing middle of the season!”
Previously he had confirmed the news on Instagram where he wrote a farewell post for his character.
