Drake has taken the time to respond back to Yasiin Bey’s commentary of Drake’s music to where he considers the Canadian native’s music not Hip Hop. Drake took to his Instagram to sound back to the conversation surrounding his sound.
On the IG story, he posted a clip Method Man that goes into detail of what Hip Hop means to him along with writing Bey’s song “Umi Says” lyrics: “What umi say again? Lemme shine my light king don’t change up now,”
In the clip, Method Man said:
“Hip Hop is a culture. It’s a way of life, the way you dress, the way you talk, the way you walk. It’s the breakdancing, rhymes, stage show, DJ, mixing and scratching, the wordplay. That’s Hip Hop,”
