Amid Jada’s book tour, she has just recently revealed yet another shocking detail in regards to her and Will Smith’s marital situation. On Today, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she and Will have been living apart since 2021. She details that as a 50th birthday present, she moved out of their Calabasas, CA home and bought her own home.
Speaking to New York Times, she shared their thought process behind what worked for their family.
“We wanted to create a family we never had, and we did that. And we enjoy our family. For us, our marriage is like a cornerstone of that for now. Who knows in 10 years,” she shared. She continued, “We’ve tried everything to get away from each other, and we just don’t.”
Previously in Will Smith’s 2021 memoir, Will, he revealed that their marriage was in shambles back in 2011. He also noted sentiments that Jada wrote in hers as the two didn’t want to divorce each other.
“Neither of us wanted a divorce, we knew we loved each other, and some aspects of our union were magical. But the structure of the life that we had established was strangling both of us.” he expressed.
