It looks like singer Lizzo has been hit with another lawsuit, this time coming from her former wardrobe manager, Asha Daniels. Daniels noted within her lawsuit that Lizzo created a hostile work environment in where herself and other staff members endured harassment, discrimination and bullying.Â
The lawsuit lists Lizzo, whose name is Melissa Jefferson, and her company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc, Daniels and tour managers Amanda Nomura and Carlina Gugliotta. This comes after her previous lawsuit that she had received from her former dancers.
Within the suit, Daniels
Daniels alleges in the new suit that she endured racial and sexual harassment during her term of employment with Lizzo, as well as disability discrimination, assault and illegal retaliatory termination, according to the complaint.
The suit stated that allegedly Amanda Nomura that acted as a supervisor for Asha Daniels contributed to the environment that was “set up to humiliate, degrade, alienate, and, in some cases, fire, the Black female performers.” Daniels also claims the dancers were forced to change with “little to no privacy” in front of members of Lizzo’s stage crew who were mainly White men, that would “lewdly gawk, sneer, and giggle while watching the dancers rush through their outfit changes.”
Daniels further claimed that most work days consisted of 20-hour days, denied breaks, along with an incident to where she had been denied medical care while suffering an allergic reaction during the tour. More so she states that she heard racist and fatphobic comments from Nomura that called Black women who were on the tour “dumb,” “useless,” and “fat,” to other employees.
As of now, there has been no response from Lizzo of the new lawsuit.
