Rayshard Brooks family is looking to receive a sum of $1 Million dollars from the city of Atlanta due to his wrongful death from a police officer who shot and killed Brooks at a Wendy’s parking lot in 2020, three weeks after George Floyd’s death. A lawsuit had been settled where the city had awarded the family that disclosed amount.
Rayshard Brooks had been sleeping in his car and unarmed when he was approached by officers who believed he may have been intoxicated, and attempted to arrest him after testing his sobriety that led to him being shot.
This comes after prosecutors had dropped charges against the officers involved in his case where they defended themselves and say that were “reasonable” and that they “didn’t commit any crimes.” The lawsuit stated that Brooks’ rights were in violation by the city of Atlanta and deems it “senseless and unjustified.”
Brooks leaves behind his wife Tomika Miller, three daughters, and a stepson.Follow Us
