Kanye is officially done with working with Gap and is glad to be freed from the company. The Chi-town rapper made the decision to terminate the partnership between YEEZY and Gap after two years after he stated in a letter via his attorney the company failed to meet their end of the agreement to sell 40 percent of YEEZY Gap in stores and open five locations dedicated to their collaboration.
The letter also details that YEEZY will allow Gap to continue selling current YEEZY Gap products before ceasing to use the brand name. This also does not affect items provided in YEEZY’s collaboration with Balenciaga, which is also sold through Gap.
“It was always a dream of mine to be at the Gap and bring the best product possible to the masses. It was very frustrating. It was very disheartening, because I just put everything I had. I put all of my top relationships. Our agenda, it wasn’t aligned.” Ye said on CNBC’s Closing Bell Thursday.
“Obviously there’s always struggles and back-and-forth when you’re trying to build something new and integrate teams.”
He expressed further his frustrations with Gap not opening up the physical locations as agreed upon and how he has to move forward on his own.
“Everyone knows that I’m the leader, I’m the king. A king can’t live in someone else’s castle. A king has to make his own castle.”Follow Us
